To what extent does money matter?
What is the price of safety? Do you go for the cheapest system? Or do you prefer the safest solution? Whichever De Boer Safety system you select, you can be sure to get the best price-quality ratio.
Is the height of my roof important when choosing a fall-protection system?
A fall-protection system can only arrest a fall if there is sufficient height to fall from. A safety system is of no use if you can still hit the ground when falling from a low height. Fortunately, other systems exist to protect from the danger of falling from low roofs, e.g. collective fall-protection or a positioning system.
Is the shape of my roof important when selecting the type of roof-protection system?
When the shape of the roof is simple, the fall-protection system can probably be simple, too. On the contrary, a roof with a complex shape will often require a more sophisticated, usually more expensive system. A steel cable system or a fence is likely to be more expensive if there are a lot of turns and/or interruptions.
Is a certain expertise required to use the fall-protection system?
Fall-protection systems will only do any good if they are used, and used well. Clear instructions and easy-of-use can contribute to this. However, some systems require better knowledge than others. For that reason, it is important to know whether the persons who will go onto your roof are qualified or not.
Does it matter how often someone will go on the roof?
If the roof will only be accessed once in a while, a simple system will probably suffice. However, if people will go on the roof on a regular basis, you need a user-friendly system.
My roof consists of different roof surfaces at different heights. Is this important for fall-protection?
When your roof is adjacent to another, higher building, additional fall-protection is probably not required as there is no danger of falling from the roof. However, when there is a difference in heights, including on your own roof, extra fall-protection may be needed. Think e.g. of technical rooms on the roof top, e.g. for the elevator. As soon as the difference in heights exceeds two metres anywhere, special measures must be taken.
My roof can be seen from other buildings. Does this matter?
Where aesthetics play a role, it is best to select a system which is not overly prominent. De Boer Safety systems have all been designed with an eye for beauty and, thus, contribute to your building’s architectural value.
Are obstacles and places which are difficult to reach important when it comes to fall-protection?
Roofs often house solar panels, chimneys, HVAC installations, antennas and skylights. These determine the course of the steel-cable system and the position of the anchor points. The more obstacles there are on a roof, the more they are likely to hinder the position and the use of the fall-protection system. We take into account the obstacles on the roof already when we design the proposed safety system.
