CE Declarations and Certificates
From September 1st 2006, the CE mark becomes compulsory for the trading of 'Flexible sheets for waterproofing – Reinforced bitumen sheets for waterproofing' and without the CE mark, these types of materials can no longer be traded within the European Community. The European guideline "Building Products", published under product norm EN 13707 (latest version October 2004), lists a number of essential requirements that building products have to meet in order to qualify for the CE mark. The purpose of the CE-mark is to remove trade barriers, by creating a uniform norm (standard) and procedure so that product qualities are always measured and controlled in exactly the same way.
CE-certificates:
The CE- certificates issued to manufacturers confirm that the listed products have been assessed and conform to the fixed criteria by an accredited institute.
CE-labels:
Every roll has to carry a label with the following information : symbol CE-Mark, number of the CE-certificate, identification of the certification body, reference of the product, reference of the European norm and a description and technical data of the product.
CE-declaration of conformity & technical data sheet:
Due to the vast amount of data required, printing a label to be stuck on each roll is not easy. Therefore, it is possible for the products to be accompanied by a "declaration of conformity" containing, next to the aforementioned data, a complete list of all relevant technical characteristics as described in table A.1 of the norm EN 13707.
Use of website:
When a manufacturer wants to use a website to provide the information required for CE-marking, a simplified CE marking with reference to the website shall be used and affixed on the product itself. The full information has to be available on the website at all times, for consultation, downloading and printing (except during maintenance of the website).
